To avoid these common orthodontic problems, there are some precautions you should take, especially if you're self-conscious about your smile.
There are many common orthodontic problems that often occur at some point in time. The two most common issues are related to the retainers and how they fit. Braces can be used to treat the inner bite, canines that are too long, crossbite or open bite, overcrowding of the upper back teeth, or the space between your top and bottom front teeth. These problems often occur before you're 8 years old, but don't worry! Family Braces NE | Orthodontist Calgary has a dental assistant on staff that specializes in treating orthodontic patients, so we can help your child set up a treatment plan to fix this common orthodontic problem and begin taking care of their smile today.
Everybody knows what braces do, right? But not every orthodontist knows how to fix them. Have you ever taken a look in the mirror and just thought, "Man, my smile could use some work?" Of course, you have We all have! But how can you fix your smile? So let's see what the most common problems that people with braces face are and how to fix them!
Let's face it: at one point or another, we've all had issues with our teeth. Some are more common than others, while others may be a bit rare. If you're worried about your smile and think you may have one of these problems, don't sweat it – it's likely something that can be fixed by an orthodontist. Here are some of the most common problems we see here at Family Braces NE | Orthodontist Calgary, along with their solutions.
Overbite
The term "overbite" is used to describe when the top row of teeth rests too far in front of the bottom row of teeth, creating a bite that looks like it could be described as "over". This can lead to other issues down the road (like tooth and jaw pain), so it's something that should be corrected early on. The solution? Braces! These can help pull your teeth back into proper alignment with your bottom row.
Underbite
An underbite is just like an overbite but in reverse – instead of your top row being too far forward, your bottom row is too far forward. The solution? Again, braces! With some time and patience, the braces will help bring everything back into alignment and give you the smile you've always wanted.
It's no secret that braces can be uncomfortable, but there are some common problems that we see at the office that can make things even more painful. Here are some of the most common orthodontic issues and how to fix them.
Loose Brackets
In some instances, the adhesive can become loose over time, causing your brackets to slip out of place. If this happens, you should contact our office immediately as it is a sign that your appliance needs to be adjusted. We will re-cement the bracket and continue with treatment.
Loose Bands
Bands can also become loose if they are not cemented properly in the first place. If this occurs, contact us right away so we can re-cement them before they fall off and you lose them.
Loose Wire
The wire in your braces may sometimes come loose or come out of its slot on a bracket. This is usually due to a loose bracket or the wire rubbing against something and bending out of shape. In most cases, you will need to see us for an adjustment so we can fix it or replace it. However, if you notice it's coming out of one particular spot, you may be able to use something like tweezers or nail clippers to put it back into place.
We've covered a few common orthodontic problems and how they can be fixed. If you are currently in orthodontic treatment and you're experiencing any of these issues, don't worry. Your orthodontist will have plenty of solutions to help you along the way. As always, ask your orthodontist if you have any questions or if the problems persist.
As you can see, though orthodontic problems such as spacing remain common, there are solutions to correct these issues. Don't delay treatment if you are experiencing any of these issues, as it can lead to further complications in the future.
