2D Top Down Shooter
2D Top Down Shooter
For the 2D top-down shooter section, I was tasked with editing the Excel sheet and JSON files provided by the professor to create unique enemies and obstacles for the player to interact with, as well as the player themselves. These characters and obstacles were then placed in maps that were created using a txt file that I came up with.
INSPIRATION
The overall theme of this sequence of levels was inspired by The Nautilus Ark: A Johnson Corp Odyssey Corp one shot from Critical Role. I had always enjoyed Star Trek and Star Wars growing up and seeing this one shot was very exciting to see those spaces translated to games and TTRPGs, I wanted to take a stab at it.

CHARACTERS
Fast movement, slower but precise shooting
Slow movement, heavy hitter, similar to a Barbarian
Average movement, rapid but not as accurate shooting, Spray n Pray
Slower movement, gathers in clumps for ambushes, affectionately named Ankle Biters
Slow movement, insanely accurate and deadly shooting, Sharp Shooter
Fast movement, Suicide Bomber
INCORPORATED PUZZLES
Purple blocks are destroyable walls that can be utilized for various puzzles and challenges for players.
The game utilizes various Minesweeper puzzles that need to be solved in order to move further through the level.
This sequence in level 3 is inspired by a minigame in Fall Guys, where you run into a line of identical walls to try and find the breakable one to move forward. However, unlike Fall Guys some of these walls contain an enemy drop.
