Fairies, folk tales, and forests oh my! Join us for this Thanksgiving Point mid-summer tradition of bringing the magic of fairy tales to life in the Ashton Gardens. Come dressed up and ready to meet some of your favorite story book characters, explore the enchanted gardens, listen to stories, go on a quest, and so much more.

Fairy Tale Architecture presents designs for unbuilt structures that explore the relationship between fairy tales and speculative architecture, melding art, architecture, and literary critique. Initially begun as a series for the online public architecture, landscape, and urbanism journal Places, the exhibition presents work melding architecture, design, and literary critique. Architects and designers from all over the world were invited to select a favorite tale, contemplate the promise of a magical home, and design new realms and spaces that explore this inquiry within the world of the fairy tale.

This first edition is wholly unlike the so-called definitive edition of 1857. In the process of publishing seven different editions over forty years, the Grimms made vast changes in the contents and style. The stories in the first edition are closer to the oral tradition than the tales of the final, which can be regarded more as a literary collection, because Wilhelm, the younger brother, continually honed the tales so that they would resonate with a growing literary public. Their books would become second in popularity only to the Bible in German-speaking lands. By the twentieth century, they would become the most famous collection of folk and fairy tales in the western world.

All of the tales in the first edition bear the marks of their diverse storytellers who believed in the magic, superstitions, and miraculous transformations of the tales. It may be difficult for us to understand why this is the case, but for the storytellers and writers of these tales, the stories contained truths about the living conditions of their times. The tales in the first edition were collected not from peasants, as is commonly believed, but mainly from literate people whom the Grimms came to know quite well. Evidence shows that these people often obtained their tales from illiterate or anonymous informants. Even if they did not know their informants, the Grimms came to trust almost everyone who contributed to their collection. It is this mutual trust that marks the tales as something special and endows them with a certain humanity, what Germans call Menschlichkeit, and it is this mutual trust among folklorists in the nineteenth century that marks it as the golden age of folk and fairy tales. The tales in the first edition set a certain standard that collectors began to follow and still follow even today.

In the process of brainstorming for the Summer 2023 fairy tale issue, the editors at Orion wondered: what if AI could help us visualize what fairy tales for the climate crisis could actually look like? What does a drought mean to a mermaid? What does a forest fire feel like to a phoenix? We gave the assignment to our intern Kim Schmidt with one very vague description: AI fairy tale art. Kim quickly discovered that generating AI art, especially on free, widely available tools, is not that simple.

Note: The following skill levels are required to complete the quest. These skills are not required to unlock access to fairy rings, for which you only need to progress the quest up to a certain point. However, building fairy rings in the player-owned house requires full quest completion.

Head south-east into the Lumbridge Swamp, towards the hut. Equip a Dramen or Lunar staff and go into Zanaris, and head toward Fairy Nuff's grotto, just north of the bank. Walk in, and you'll see a short cutscene. On the ground and next to one of the potion shelves is Fairy Nuff's certificate; pick it up. Right click and choose "Study". Studying the certificate reveals its back, which is covered with strange fairy symbols.

Talk to the Fairy Godfather in the Fairy Queen's throne room located next to the slayer master. Ask him what happened to the Queen, to which he visibly starts panicking and rushes to say that he will create a search party for her. Ask him both questions, and then agree to return to him once you've found the queen. The Godfather gives you permission to use the fairy rings to locate the queen. He asks you to speak to the Co-ordinator outside the room to learn more about the rings.

After talking to the Co-ordinator and being informed of the vast history of the fairy rings and the queen, head south-west to the fountains. Talk to Fairy Fixit near the fairy ring, south of the fountains. After that, use the fairy rings while wielding a Dramen staff (or a Lunar staff if you have partially or fully completed Lunar Diplomacy).

With Nuff's certificate in your inventory, use the fairy ring four times in sequence. You will need to repeat this sequence each time you wish to visit the Fairy Queen's hideout. Once you have correctly done it once, the sequence of four appears as an option at the bottom of the teleports list. After the quest you will no longer need Nuff's certificate, but you will still need to do all four teleports. Nuff's certificate in your inventory must be obtained after you meet the required skill levels to complete the quest.

Head back to Zanaris, and pickpocket the Fairy Godfather. This requires level 40 Thieving to be completed successfully. If you fail, you will be teleported outside Zanaris. A quick way to get back to Zanaris is the Salve graveyard teleport which will place you a few strides away from the Canifis fairy ring.

Back at the fairy hideout, talk to Fairy Nuff, and give her the secateurs. She will use them to rejuvenate the queen, but they do not work completely. Nuff tells you that she needs a certain magic essence potion to replenish the queen's missing life energy. To make the potion, you need to collect some Star flowers and gorak claw powder.

Return to the fairy ring and use the code CKP, which transports you to a cosmic plane. Move around for about two minutes whilst the Star flowers grow. You can pass the time by talking to the Cosmic Being who lives there, contemplating the mysteries of the universe.

Return to Zanaris, and withdraw any armour and weapons, along with around 10 pieces of good food. Goraks are very accurate, so take the best melee armour you have. They are aggressive, but luckily, they are not located in a multicombat area, therefore you can only fight one at time. However, by remaining in the fairy ring, they will not be aggressive until they are attacked.

At the Zanaris fairy ring, use the sequence DIR to get to another plane full of goraks. They are level 145 or 149 and occasionally drain stat points. Kill them, eating food when necessary and drink restore potions if needed until you get a gorak claw. To leave, equip your staff of choice and teleport to Zanaris using the right-click option on the fairy ring.

The Timeless Fairy Tales are a series of fairy tale adaptations all set in the same fantasy world. Each book focuses on a different main character, but there is some overlap as the events in each story impact both the character's country and their world as a whole.

There is a Timeless Fairy Tales world map and a Verglas country map! I teamed up with Daniel (of Daniel's maps) to create this glorious rendition of the continent, and Ilari Nikkarikoski for the rendition of Verglas. These maps are references, not spot on geography maps, so they are not made perfectly to scale with perfect details.

If you're looking for a more detailed timeline that includes the events of all the shorts and extras, we have two! Liz's timeline is organized in the proper event order and lists the books/shorts occur in to give you and end-all reading list! Mikayla's timeline is also numerical, but broken out by country! If you want a better idea of what's taking place in each country at a given time, this is for you!

The Entwined Tales books are a series of interconnected fairy tales I wrote with several other fairy tale authors and tells the story of a family of woodcutters. My book, A Goose Girl, is the first in the series and tells the tale of the eldest daughter.

"The question of whether fairies have tails or not... Or even the most basic, do fairies even exist... ...is an eternal mystery, and an eternal adventure. It's with that thought that the guild is named. Despite the cute name, it's a boisterous and rough guild. But every day is fun. And personally, I love it!! I hope you all find it too. A place like Fairy Tail that you can't do without! With friends that you love!" 2351a5e196
