FIRIS is a parent group advocating sectarian 'special' religious 'education' (SRE) be held outside formal class teaching time and that only inclusive, comprehensive religious and worldview education be provided for and/or to NSW Public School students
Allowing evangelical and other proselytising SRE providers into school classrooms in formal teaching periods to provide doctrinal instruction at the expense of students who cannot or do not want to participate in the SRE on offer (or in SEE-ethics, if it happens to be available) is an abuse of children's rights
SRE is allowed at considerable cost to NSW public education (including significant monetary and lost-production costs)
FIRIS is also opposed to the National Student Wellbeing Program as it is still largely the National Schools Chaplaincy Program
