Events organisers hire us to keep their guests and events safe and in return, we get to keep our practices, deployments, and skills up to date in case of emergencies such as floods or pandemics.

My long-term ambition is to develop my skills and experience in this area to be deployed in conflict and high-risk zones overseas to coordinate and provide international relief.

Because of the student housing crisis in Maastricht, a team and platform to connect students in need of housing to volunteer short-term hosts.

In an effort to increase the harmony between students and the city in Maastricht, in match, we try to connect students to the neighbourhood. By setting up social projects together with our colleagues and fellow residents. We meet with welfare organizations or join one of the many volunteer initiatives in our neighbourhood.

After winning the UM App Challenge (https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/news/appchallenge-um-2018-winners), got hired to further develop the winning idea of a social platform to connect students that want to be tutored or study together and collect metrics and feedback on courses.

My duties included

- Regular reporting and presentation of progress to mid and senior management

Alarmed by the lack of learning opportunities and support to the young local population in this field, me and a dear friend Mohamed Nadeem, started a programming club. Our main goal was to inspire the kids and promote collaboration. We first aimed for the Grade 7 – 9 year group, but because of the many requests we also started a program for Grades 10 & 11.

Duties included: regular shifts around the school to deal with any social/discipline issues that may arise, organise charity events, assist in any school activities (parents evening, international day, national day).

Along with two other friends and teammates we managed to design a belt fitted with an Arduino board that could detect objects and the speed the person is moving at and then play different octaves of music accordingly. This project was aimed at the visually impaired. My contribution, mainly, was programming the board. We managed to secure 53% of the total votes, first place, leaving with a trophy and certificate.
