Switzerland is also known as one of the most beautiful countries in Europe due to its stunning mountain ranges, lakes, waterfalls, and cityscapes. The Swiss Alps, one of the highest mountain ranges in Europe, captivate visitors with their glacier-covered peaks. Switzerland boasts a series of beautiful lakes, such as Lake Geneva, the Rhine River, Lake Lucerne, and Lake Zurich. These lakes are nestled amidst picturesque mountain scenery, offering breathtaking views. Bern, the capital of Switzerland, features a charming old town, and notable attractions include the Rhine Falls and the city of Lucerne.
The Rhine River originates in the southeastern part of the Swiss Alps in the canton of Graubünden. It forms part of the borders between Switzerland-Liechtenstein, Switzerland-Austria, and Switzerland-Germany. The Rhine River then delineates much of the Franco-German border before primarily flowing north through the Rhineland in Germany. It has been a major navigable waterway since the time of the Roman Empire.
