What is Achievement Goal Theory?
A branch of interest theory that focuses on goals that promote both self-efficacy and improved performance. The importance of this theory is to understand how to motivate young children/students to learn in a way that helps them achieve both short and long term goals. These different goals include ego-involved goals, task goals, performance goals, performance avoidance goals, and several others.
