A large portion of Mexicans that migrate to the Philadelphia area are from the state of Puebla, where they celebrate their traditions and the Battle of Puebla. Many send remittances back to Mexico and order a unique and colorfully designed costumes with references to the battle. Some years, the carnival has been canceled because of threats of deportations and COVID, but the "carnavaleros" continúe to push their culture forward.
