If you do not wish to swim in the Final, you may scratch or declare your intention to scratch from the final event by emailing Sectionals2022@gmail.com within 30 minutes of the announcement of qualifiers for the event. NOTE: scratches may be sent via text to Sectionals2022@gmail.com. Be sure to include swimmer's name, name of person submitting scratch, and detailed event information in text.

• TO SCRATCH FROM FINALS

Subject of email: FINALS SCRATCH: <event>, <swimmer name>

Example:

FINALS SCRATCH: Event 3, Women's 200 Freestyle, Jane Smith

• TO DELCARE AN INTENT TO SCRATCH FROM FINALS

Subject of email: FINALS INTENT TO SCRATCH: <event>, <swimmer name>

Example:

FINALS INTENT TO SCRATCH: Event 3, Women's 200 Freestyle, Jane Smith

• Body of email should include swimmer’s first and last name, club, coach’s name, and event being scratched. If declaring an intent to scratch, include your last preliminary event of the day.

• Your coach should be cc'ed on the email.

• NOTE: emails may be sent via text. You MUST include your name if sending a scratch via text.

• You will receive an automated reply that your email has been received and a reply when your scratch has been processed. If you do not receive a reply, please confirm your scratch with the Administrative Referee.

• If you declare an "intent to scratch" and do not wish to swim in finals, you must confirm your scratch within 30 minutes of the conclusion of your last preliminary event of the day or you will automatically be seeded into finals.

• If you see that your swimmer has scratched into a Finals event, please let us know if they will be coming back or not by email to Sectionals2022@gmail.com.

If an athlete fails to properly scratch from an event and does not appear for the “Final” event, they shall be barred from further competition for the remainder of the meet.
