I have spoken on a wide range of topics from leapfrogging technology and innovation in Africa where I discussed the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain on African politics and economies to the role of corporate social responsibility in global women's advocacy, the creative industries around Africa, as well as "digital museums" and the influence of African digital art and culture.
Woman entrepreneur Eyitemi Popo knows that in order to change the African narrative globally, African stories need to be portrayed in a way that breaks down perpetuated stereotypes and exemplifies the complexity of African identity. She launched three ventures to tackle this challenge and amplify the voices of Africans.
The first is Ayiba Magazine, an award-winning African Diaspora publication. The second is Girls Trip Tours, an African travel experience focused on female empowerment. And finally, Gitgirl, a startup that equips African women with technology skills, that actually pays the bills.
Eyitemi graduated with high honors from Mount Holyoke College, Massachussetts where she studied International Relations (with a focus on African Studies) and Digital Media. She holds a Master’s in Digital Experience Innovation from the University of Waterloo, and is certified in digital publishing from NYU.
