Seminário de pós-graduação em filosofia sobre experiências espirituais, PPG-Fil UFRGS, Seminário Temático II, Fil 181, terças-feiras às 10h, Prof. Rogério Severo
Este seminário tem como meta investigar o que podemos saber hoje sobre as chamadas experiências espirituais. Nosso ponto de partida será o livro de James, As variedades da experiência religiosa. Nos 120 anos deste a publicação desse livro, o conhecimento desses fenômenos cresceu bastante. Revisaremos uma parte da literatura mais recente sobre o assunto, tendo como foco escritos de psicologia e psiquiatria sobre os critérios para se distinguir experiências espirituais de experiências patológicas, a literatura em filosofia da biologia sobre a evolução das capacidades mentais humanas e a literatura filosófica sobre o que se pode concluir da análise desses fenômenos espirituais.
A cada encontro, um ou dois textos serão apresentados e discutidos. Espera-se dos participantes que elaborem comentários, perguntas ou críticas aos textos indicados. Também serão apresentados e discutidos casos exemplares de experiências espirituais. Espera-se que todos leiam ao menos um livro com relatos de experiências espirituais ao longo do semestre (vários estão indicados na bibliografia abaixo). Ao final do semestre, um texto monográfico ou um artigo sobre o assunto deverá ser entregue. Esse trabalho deverá ser apresentado no seminário (antes de ser entregue) no mês de abril.
