Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy describes how ExpenseBook (referred to as "the Application", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use our mobile application.
ExpenseBook is designed as a local-first, offline application.
- No Server Storage: We do not host your financial data on any external servers or databases.
- Full Data Ownership: All financial logs, accounts, transactions, budgets, categories, and tags remain strictly on your local device.
- No Tracking: We do not include any tracking software, third-party analytics, or background telemetry.
To provide the Application's core features, we may require access to certain device features. All data processed through these features remains on your device:
- What we collect: Accounts, categories, tags, transactional amounts, dates, notes, and photos/attachments associated with transactions.
- How it is used: To compute your balances, generate financial reports, track budget limits, and display transaction histories.
- Where it is stored: In a local SQLite database inside the Application’s private storage directory.
- Why it is needed: To allow you to backup, restore, or export your financial reports (in CSV, Excel, or PDF formats).
- How it is used:
- Exporting Backup / Reports: To write backup files or generated document files (PDF/CSV) to a folder of your choosing, or share them via the system share sheet.
- Importing Backup: To read a previously saved backup file to restore your database.
- Transaction Attachments: To allow you to select images from your gallery or files (like receipts) to attach to individual transactions.
- Why it is needed: To secure access to the Application using your device's native lock mechanisms (Fingerprint, Face Unlock, or PIN/Pattern).
- How it is used: The Application uses the device's native APIs. We do not collect, view, or store your biometric data. The authentication is handled entirely by your device’s operating system, which simply returns a success or failure status to the Application.
- Why it is needed: To send you local reminders for recurring transactions, budgets, or logging alerts.
- How it is used: Notifications are generated and scheduled entirely locally on your device. No remote servers are used to push notifications to your device.
If you purchase a premium upgrade in ExpenseBook:
- Transactions are handled securely through Google Play Billing (Android) and/or Apple App Store In-App Purchases (iOS).
- We do not collect or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing addresses.
- The processing of payments and the handling of billing data are governed by the privacy policies and terms of service of the respective app stores.
- Retention: Since your data is stored locally, we retain it for as long as the Application is installed on your device, or until you choose to clear the Application's data or delete the Application.
- Security: Your data is kept in the Application’s private sandbox directory, isolated from other standard applications on your device by the operating system. We recommend securing your device with a PIN, pattern, or biometrics and enabling ExpenseBook's in-app security lock for added security.
- Backups: You are solely responsible for managing your backups. Any backup file you export is under your control, and you should store it in a secure location.
Our Application does not collect any personal data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is transmitted to us, the Application is fully safe and compliant with standard children's privacy regulations.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes.
