Disclosure:

To help navigate the logistics of moving internationally, we’ve put together a digital travel journal tailor-made to the needs of travelers from Singapore to Europe and the Americas as a collaboration between the local Sales Team of Lufthansa Group and Shiloh Animal Express. We noted down all possible travel considerations and consolidating the information with links so you can validate the data from the source of truth at your fingertip.

All information was prepared with the greatest possible care to the best of knowledge. Feeling insecure about the entry regulations at your travel destination?

The situation is constantly changing. Nowadays, the entry is not limited to visa requirement. Additionally, the place of origin and the # of days of stay are decisive as to whether it is possible to enter.

Travel is subject to frequently changing governmental restrictions – please check the state advisories before scheduling trips as entry regulations may change at short notice.

We trust you have checked with the respective Embassy for entry/ quarantine requirements. You may check out the links below for indicators.

Transit rules: how has it changed with connecting time and is Covid-19 test mandatory?

Allow for more time at security. We recommend a 90 minute connecting time.

Transit passengers do not need to comply with mandatory negative Covid-19 test. Most updated info will be on the link for Germany and Switzerland. For voluntary Covid-19 testing, more info on this link for onsite rapid testing.

Transfers between airlines are normal at our hubs Frankfurt and Zurich. You can take off to more and more destinations. However, transiting in Singapore is currently highly restrictive to comply with CAAS. Our flights that terminate in Singapore cannot connect to other Asia airports with interline partners.

Baggage rules: How many bags can I bring for hand-carry & check-in?

We recommend to only carry 1 PC of hand luggage up to 8Kg in order to speed up the process at the security checkpoint, as well as boarding and deboarding, and to avoid human crowding as much as possible.

Nothing has changed with the baggage handling process. Your bag will be tagged to your final destination on your single ticket.

You can check-in 1PC x 23Kg in Economy and 2PC x 23Kg in Premium Economy and 2PCx 32Kg in Business Class. More about bags on Lufthansa | SWISS.

Overflowing baggage?

With relocation comes the daunting task of packing & fitting everything within your allowance. There is no need to prepay your excess baggage as the weight and dimensions are being evaluated at the airport. An extra piece in Economy is EUR250/USD287 for 23Kg (158cm). To the Americas, flat rate applies for a 2nd piece at EUR90/USD100 for 23Kg.

Advance booking with large quantity of additional baggage? Generally, you can check in a total of 3 baggage items as excess baggage without providing advance notice. If your baggage exceeds this number, please contact us. More details on Lufthansa and SWISS.

Option to reserve seat: window or aisle or with more leg room?

Seat selection is free of charge 23 hours before departure. During the check-in process, the system will auto select the best available seats. For guests travelling together, the system assigns the seats next to each other. For persons travelling alone, the middle seats are still allocated according to the "last to be offered" principle.

Advanced seats can be purchased and more info is on Lufthansa and SWISS. To comply with regulatory requirements to ensure safe cabin environment, some seat selection may be limited.

Assistance while transiting - not only for the VIPs

Your relocation flight is a memory that you will look back to. Perhaps a Guide Service can help you? An extra hand can keep you calm and relaxed.

For families who have connecting flights and need help to be escorted around the airport, did you know that our Guide Service starts at EUR75 for a group of 5?

More info on Lufthansa Guide Service.

Fly with greater comfort - bid for upgrade

Reserving that upgrade for special occasion?

It is a unique time when longhaul flights may not be fully booked. It’s a good chance to pay for more comfort or bid for an upgrade. The system checks automatically if your flights qualify for an upgrade.

If you are interested to do an upgrade, check your options on Lufthansa and SWISS.

Long transit time - wait comfortably at the lounge

Economy guests can now have an opportunity to enjoy our lounges in Frankfurt for EUR39 per access. Simply show your valid Lufthansa boarding pass at the lounge entrance and pay by credit card. This offer is limited & can be purchased if capacities are available. Learn more about Lufthansa lounge. SWISS passengers can buy on the booking process of swiss.com. Traveling with pets / furry family

From a big dog to a small cat, air travel always means excitement and uncertainty for both the owners and their four-legged friends. Animals travel under the best-possible conditions. Some pets can travel with you in the cabin or in the special transport containers at air conditioned animal cargo hold. Pets can travel with you or unaccompanied. We recommend you to contact Pet Relocation Specialist such as Shiloh Animal Express. Find out how you can make a good trip for your precious pet on Lufthansa and SWISS. Unsure whether you should fly?

Flying has never been so flexible. The standard change fee for intercont flights used to be in the range of SGD250-300 in Economy Class. Because of the rapidly changing entry restrictions and the unpredictability of the Covid-19 cases at your destination, from now on you can rebook without a rebooking fee on all fares – as often as you like, for tickets issued until 31Dec2020.

You can also change the origin and destination of your journey.

Travelling to the USA?

Non-stop flight from Singapore to the USA is rare and therefore a one-stop flight final destination can be the next best thing, here’s why:

Travelling Singapore-Frankfurt/Zurich is an evening service where you can sleep through (approx. 13-hr good night flight). Breaking your journey in Frankfurt/Zurich with early morning arrival can be a good timing to walk and combat muscle fatigue. Perhaps you can also make good use of the lounge to shower and freshen up? Frankfurt/Zurich to New York (and to most our Flights to USA) is a day service (from 8 1/2 hour flight time) and gets you in to New York still at daytime to make the most of the day.

Your immigration formalities and baggage are done at your first port of entry in the USA. If you are arriving in the USA from an intercontinental flight and you are intending to catch another domestic US flight : please allow sufficient time for connection as the immigration formalities can be unpredictable with wait times. Plus you will still have to drop off your checked-in bags before you head off to the next flight (which can be another terminal even). Arriving from Frankfurt or Zurich directly to your destination in USA relieves you from that tension.
