BEE the Change

Biodiversity is rapidly declining. From climate change to habitat loss like deforestation, human actions are quickly changing Earth’s environments preventing species with enough time to adapt and survive. These changes to the biosphere have caused conservation organizations to work hard in order to stop and reverse the declining trends in biodiversity. This semester, students focused their research around how we can use our school garden to help increase the biodiversity of our environment. Students researched three conservation techniques to help address this decline in biodiversity: Habitat Rehabilitation, Resource Availability, and Genetics. Through their research, students created informational videos and graphics to help explain the importance of these conservation techniques. They also had the opportunity to get their hands dirty and plant native and bee-friendly species in our school garden so we can all help save the bees!
