Experimental Arabic Linguistics 2018

The Department of Linguistics at the United Arab Emirates University is hosting the third meeting of the Experimental Arabic Linguistics Conference (EXAL) in Al Ain, UAE, on 28-29 October, 2018. As in the past meetings (held in UAEU in 2013 and NYU Abu Dhabi in 2016 (EXAL+)), the aim of the conference is to bring together scholars using experimental approaches to address long-standing or new theoretical issues pertaining to the study of language, focusing on Arabic and related (e.g. Semitic and Afro-Asiatic) languages. Areas of interest include:

  • First/Second Language Acquisition
  • Language Impairment and Speech Therapy
  • Psycholinguistics/Neurolinguistics
  • Experimental Phonetics/Phonology
  • Experimental Syntax/Semantics/Pragmatics
  • Computational Linguistics
  • Corpus Linguistics
  • Modern Lexicography
  • Any other area studying Arabic and related languages using experimental methodology
