I am a PhD Researcher at the University of Bristol within the Bristol Interaction Group and Digital Health research groups.
I am supervised by Dr. Aisling Ann O'Kane and Prof. Ki Cater.
My research focuses on the acceptance and user experience of smart home technologies for health and care, primarily with older adults and people living with multiple chronic health conditions. I do mixed-method (qualitative and quantitative) research in this area.
This work spans both "low-tech" home adaptations and ubiquitous smart home devices (e.g. Amazon Alexa). I am interested in people's emotional journeys of using home healthcare technology as well as experiences of shared care in multi-resident home settings. Working on EPSRC SPHERE Next Steps with Amid Ayobi and Rachel Eardley, I worked collaboratively helping to co-design elements of the bespoke smart home system.
I completed my Masters (MSc) in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Bath in 2018 (supervised by Dr. Ioannis Benardis). My Bachelor's in Creative Music and Technology was completed at Bath Spa University in 2014.
I have worked in web and UX: as a web design intern for Marvellous Maps (2014), a Higher Education administrator/web designer (2016-2018), a web and UX designer for 44AD (charity, in 2018) and on development of the CHI Lites website in 2019 with Sian Lindley (Microsoft Research), Rachel Eardley (Bristol) and Amit Kumar Jaiswal (Bedfordshire).
Outside of work, I enjoy creative and physical activities; making YouTube content, photography, playing (amateur) piano, and long-distance running. I am also the owner of a British-blue cat named Humphrey.
