Session Details: This workshop will include valuable tools and care practices such as meditation, individual journaling, and collective reflection as part of our ongoing inner work as educators, as well as student affairs and academic support staff, serving our diverse student population. With 42% of our student population identifying as Asian, this workshop will provide insight into how our classrooms, programs, and departments may be challenged by the model minority myth -- that is, the false perception that all students of Asian descent, in particular, experience universal and collective success. This brave and vulnerable space aims to gather those who are genuinely invested in making EVC a transformative learning space in which we all thrive.

It has in-app audio, video, and the chat/text function has a language translation feature that would be particularly useful for ESL and language courses. It has file upload and storage capabilities that would be wonderful for STEM and Art courses as it allows students to take a picture of their work and upload it immediately for the instructor to review in real time. If you are using Discord (or Piazza or Remind) then this is an excellent replacement which protects student’s privacy.
