This workshop will be held in conjunction with ACM Multimedia Asia 2025.
It provides a platform for researchers and practitioners to discuss methods for evaluating multimedia systems through users’ affective responses and value structures.
Date: XXX, 2025 (TBA)
Venue: ACM MMAsia 2025, XXX, YYYY (TBA)
Scope & Motivation:
This workshop addresses affective engineering, affective computing, UX design, design psychology, and methods for value-centered evaluation in multimedia research. The goal is to explore new methods for modeling, interpreting, and visualizing affective responses, bridging psychological approaches with human-centered multimedia design.
Topics of Interest (examples):
Affective engineering in multimedia systems
Qualitative and quantitative methods for user value extraction
Emotion-aware content generation and recommendation
Visual analytics of user preferences and emotions
Large language models (LLMs) and structured affective evaluation

This workshop builds on the activities of the IEICE Technical Committee on Attractiveness Computing (2017–2024). The committee explored modeling, measuring, and leveraging affective responses such as emotion, interest, and value perception. MMAsia 2025 provides an opportunity to extend this work to an international community, with expanded focus on machine learning, user modeling, and practical implementation.
