March 29th - April 4th, 2026
Heidesee, Germany
Mentored by Russell Avdek and Amanda Hirschi
Abstract
This workshop will focus on tools used to study moduli spaces of holomorphic curves, such as Kuranishi structures and obstruction bundle gluing. We will learn about the foundational theory and its underlying tools, as well as how to use them to prove theorems about contact and symplectic manifolds. The prerequisites are a strong understanding of differential topology and Fredholm operators, foundations of contact and symplectic manifolds, and basics of holomorphic curves.
About
This is the second instance of the European spin-off of the famous Kylerec workshop (see 2025 for the last year). The workshop is run by and for master students, PhD students, and young post-docs. The participants will spend a week by a small German lake giving talks under the guidance of our mentors. We strive to create an informal atmosphere and a safe space where the participants can enjoy the beauty of mathematics together and form new connections.
Funding
Accommodation and meals at the venue will be covered. We have available funding to cover travel expenses for a limited number of participants. If you wish to apply for travel funding, please indicate so in the application form.
Application form
Here you can find the link to the form. The application deadline is February 1st.
Location and Travel information
The workshop is taking place in Heidesee, in central Germany.
Possibilities of transport: TBA, but easily accessible from Berlin by train and bus.
We expect participants to arrive on Sunday March 29th and preferably leave on Saturday the 4th.
