Abstract
It is a fact that adult education is a growing trend in the United States. In its broadest sense, adult education includes all learning experiences that helps adults acquire new knowledge, understandings, skills, attitudes, interests or values.

Among the major promoters, the public library is always regarded as a learning center for the informal education of adults in the United States.

The paper intends to examine the contribution and education services of the public library to the adult education in America.
