Abstract
The United States government has always been, and still is the largest publisher of the world. Because of the tremendous growth of the U.S. government publications. users find it difficult to search for information. The situation is further complicated by the lack of uniformity in the classification of the U.S. government documents.

This paper is a study of the management and use of the U.S. government publications. Usefulness and limitations are presented. Special emphasis is on the depository library systems.
