The Pacific Fishery Management Council manages fisheries for approximately 119 species of salmon, groundfish, coastal pelagic species (sardines, anchovies, and mackerel), and highly migratory species (tunas, sharks, and swordfish) on the West Coast of the United States. We are one of eight regional fishery management councils established by Congress in 1976.

Duties of the council also include setting the tax rate, approving the budget, planning for capital improvements, adopting all city ordinances, selecting residents to serve on boards and commissions, and approving major land transactions, purchases and contracts. The Coordinating Council on Access and Mobility (CCAM) is a federal interagency council that works to coordinate funding and provide expertise on human services transportation.
