So what I assume is, someone within etisalat, is passing around emirates id copies of people leaving the country (pretty sure it's an option for 'reason for cancellation'?), at which point their id is recycled and more accounts registered on it. I also assume since I have discovered it,, I am not the only one, and its happening to others : )

Because etisalat refused to help, I tried reaching out. Thought about gulf news, but they would be useless. I tried contacting the police, both regular and cyber police. The captain I spoke with was pretty sympathetic, but I think he realized this slightly more complicated then naughty words on whatsapp or naked girls on a balcony, so he fobbed me off and told me to not worry about it. 'maybe it is mistake?' He actually tried to gaslight me and convince me this was normal, or a mistake. Yeah, 1 account would be mistake, not 15+ : ) If it hadn't been for covid, I would started visiting the addresses on these contracts and knocking on their doors, where there is one shady activity going on, there are often others.

I then filed a complaint with TRA. By this point I had over a year and dozen accounts worth of fake contracts, the numbers being used, my email on them, as well as the aftermath of unpaid dues and emails from collections all in other peoples names. So I showed pretty clearly what was going on. TRA managed to 'sort it' virtually immediately. I got a call from etisalat apologizing. They didn't tell me they were going to see who was doing this, just that I wouldn't be bothered with this again, and from that point forward I haven't had another account registered against my email.

Compared to the average attempt to scam by morons here , this one is pretty 'genius'. The victim is technically outside the country, in fact, etisalat will argue it's impossible to register an account after the emirates id is expired (if so then how are these being done? I saw the signatured in all the contracts in my email, they all looked like they were done with the same hand), and most people won't go to the lengths I have. And even after that, noone is being reprimanded or investigated, it's all a big house of cards. For those of you that care, I'm sure some wont, after all, etisalat even says somewhere on one of its emails 'if this account doesnt belong to you, ignore this and dont worry about it' LOL, or something to that effect, cant find what the exact wording is or where it was at this moment. I'm born and raised here, in my experience, just because hamood is saying today 'dont worry this cannot affect you', doesnt mean abdallah in his place tomorrow will be following the same script : )
