Ethioparks ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Ethio Parks mobile application (the "Service"), which helps you discover, review, and book visits, activities, and events at parks and venues across Ethiopia. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data when you use the Service, in compliance with the Ethiopian Personal Data Protection Proclamation No. 1205/2020.

2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide and improve the Service.
A. Personal Identification Information
- Account Details: full name, phone number (your primary login identifier, verified via one-time passcode), and optionally an email address.
- Payment Information: We process payments through secure third-party payment gateways (e.g., mobile money providers) using your phone number. We do not store card or mobile wallet credentials on our servers; we only retain order details, transaction IDs, and status necessary for billing, receipts, and refunds.
- Profile & Preferences: display name, language preference, and notification preferences (email, push, and SMS).
B. Technical and Usage Data
- Location Data: Collected only with your explicit in-app consent, to show nearby parks, activities, and events on the map and personalize discovery and search results.
- App Usage: activity such as parks/events/activities viewed, searches, saved favorites, reviews you submit, booking and ticket history, guest counts per booking, and membership plan selections.
- Log Data: IP address, browser type (web), device type, operating system, app version, and error/crash logs.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under Proclamation No. 1205/2020, we process data where necessary for:
- Contractual Necessity: to deliver bookings, digital tickets, entry validation, membership plans, and other paid features you request.
- Consent: for precise location access and for marketing communications; you may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal Obligation: to comply with tax, safety, or other regulatory requirements in Ethiopia.
4. How We Use Your Data
- Service Delivery: manage park, activity, and event bookings; issue and validate digital tickets; process payments; manage membership plans and benefits.
- Discovery & Personalization: show nearby or relevant parks, activities, and events based on your location and preferences; power search and saved favorites.
- Communications: send booking confirmations, receipts, reminders, and notifications according to your preferences.
- Operations & Improvement: analyze usage trends to improve park and activity information, plan capacity, and detect fraud or misuse.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:
- Service Providers: vendors that provide hosting, payment processing, SMS/push notification delivery, and analytics under contract to process data on our behalf.
- Park/Venue and Activity Operators: information necessary to validate your booking or ticket and grant entry or access at a specific location.
- Legal Requirements: if required by Ethiopian law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.
6. Data Retention and Deletion

- Platform Requirement: We provide an in-app link to request data deletion, ensuring that non-essential data is purged from our systems within 30 days of a verified request.

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption (SSL/TLS) for data in transit and access controls for stored data. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure; we will notify affected users and authorities as required by law in the event of a data breach.

In accordance with Ethiopian law, you have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children; if we learn that we have inadvertently collected such data, we will delete it.
