A knowledge representation language for ethics on the web

May 2018

At the Center for Technology Ethics, we have been researching and carrying out scholarly activities since 2016

Now major technology providers - from Google to Microsoft and IBM- as well as governments and international public bodies have started paying attention to the risks caused by the lack of ethical protocols in technology development and deployemnt and have started producing copious amounts of literature, working documents and online resources referring to various aspects of ethics : AI ethics, robot ethics, technology ethics etc (public meetings, policy documents and consultations, white papers, articles, journals, books, courses etc)

The initial purpose of ethicsML is to provide a common language or a set of metadata that can be used to facilitate the knowledge organisation and exchange among citizens, developers, companies and public bodies as well as the basis for automated communication and machine learning.
