Post Option 1: Post on Singer and Lane on Animal Rights

Having completed all of the reading and films for this lesson plan proceed to answer this post:

• Key Ideas: Peter Singer, David Lane, Tom Regan and even Michael Shermer all argue in defense of animals. What are each of their positions, drawing from the readings and films?

• Your Thoughts: Has their material impacted your thinking in any way? Do you think that animals have rights? explain.

Construct a well thought out post essay drawing your material from the above assignments. Do not simply write a reactionary response like "I like meat and these guys are idiots." Keep it intellectual, informed and insightful. I need to see that you read the works, watched the videos, thought about the topic a new and philosophically and then responded. Your reflection post should not be answered until you have read all of the material on the topic and watched all of the films on this topic.

This semester for some of the posts I am allowing students to create their own interesting post question and answer as an alternative to the one(s) I offer. Make sure to incorporate material from the readings and films into it to earn credit and make sure, if possible, to write it up following the same pattern: Key Ideas; Your Thoughts.
