Ethan Foote
Educator and Artist
I am a musician, composer, and humanist currently completing a PhD in music composition at Duke University, where I came after a decade working as a professional musician in Washington, D.C. My work has encompassed jazz, acoustic chamber music, music for devised theatre, and many other forms and genres. I've taught music both privately and as a teaching assistant in the music department at Duke. Drawing on my undergraduate work in the humanities as well as independent interests, I also teach first-year writing courses in Duke's Thompson Writing Program focused on US wars in the Middle East.
