Ethan Poskanzer

I am an Assistant Professor and the Stone Family Faculty Scholar at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado, Boulder.  

My research examines how identity shapes organizational decision-making, with a focus on technological innovation. I study how identity influences evaluations of new ideas, shaping who has the opportunity to participate in the innovation economy and which potential technologies reach the world.

With my co-authors, I'm currently working on projects that examine how entrepreneurs are evaluated and the downstream consequences for inequality and technological progress. In a second stream, I study how digital technologies can be used to address global development problems.

My research has been published in Organization Science, Administrative Science Quarterly, American Sociological Review and American Journal of Sociology.

I received a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA from Syracuse University. Before entering academia, I worked at Goldman Sachs in New York City.
