Today we are going to learn about colors - starting with the primary colors? What are primary colors? What are secondary colors?
Watch this fun video about primary colors!
What happens when you mix the primary colors?
Let's try mixing primary color model magic to get secondary colors! Start with one color, divide it into three balls - One medium sized, and two small. Repeat with each of the primary colors!
Now set aside the medium sized balls, we will work with only the small ones. Combine one small ball (red) with another small one (yellow). What color do you get?
Now repeat by combining one small yellow and blue. Then, one small blue and red.
You will now have primary colors: red, yellow, and blue AND the secondary colors, orange, green, and purple...for a complete rainbow!
If you have extra time, practice coloring in a six-color color wheel with crayons!
Now it's time to create some fun clay creations with your primary and secondary colors.
We are going to try making colorful bugs!
Roll the model magic to make smaller balls of colors. These can be used for the bodies of the bugs.
Now try rolling the model magic into coils. This is one way to make a snail body, legs for your bugs, or antennae!
What other ways can you use the model magic to make different bugs?
Do your bugs have to be the color they are in real life? You are the artist so you get to decide!
