Lines Exploration / Stations

Directions

We have been talking a lot about lines...let's continue that exploration!

First, watch and listen to this story....Lines That Wiggle!

Think about all the different kinds of lines you can make....curved, straight, zigzagged, swirly....what else?

We will explore these different stations:

  1. On watercolor paper, draw different types of lines with a white crayon. Paint on top of them to reveal the lines you have created with the crayon!

  1. Build a city! A town! A country! with wooden blocks on top of paper. Now use crayons to trace around your buildings to make roads! What sorts of lines did you make with the crayons?

  1. Paint and string pull! See what designs are made by covering string in paint, placing it on paper, adding a heavy cover on top, and pulling!

  1. Vibration Lines! Use shapes to place on top of your paper. With a paint stick, trace around your shape, then trace around the lines that you just made. Keep going until you run out of space on your paper! What types of lines are you creating?
