Directions - Day 1
Mixing colors! Let's learn how to mix different skin colors! We will start by listening to a book called "Let's Talk About Race" by Julius Lester.
What do you think about this book?
What does race mean?
Why do you think people are so concerned with race or people's skin color?
Does a person's skin color tell you about how they are as a person?
Let's mix some colors!
Using paint colors:
red, yellow, black, and white
Paper
Paintbrush
Water

Can you mix these different colors?
Which one is closest to your own skin color?
Now, paint that color on a new sheet of paper! This will be used for the skin of your self portrait.
