Beautiful Colors

DOC032521.pdf

Directions - Class #1

We have mixed the primary colors to make secondary colors...now it is time to experiment with skin tones! First, let's read a book about shades of skin colors and then we will use paint to try and make those colors!

Why is it important to talk about skin color?

Some people are treated differently because of their skin color. What do you think about that? Do you know of anyone or have you ever been treated differently because of your skin color?

The paint colors we will use today are:

Red, yellow, white, and brown.

See how many skin tones you can make!

Which one matches yours the best?

Which one matches someone else in your class?

Let's paint paper these beautiful colors you have made!

Directions - Class #2

Start by watching "Let's Talk About Race", read by Common.

What did you learn from listening to this book?

What can you do if you hear someone being unkind to another person because of the color of their skin?

What can we do as artists to show this in our art?

Let's use the painted paper we made!!!
