Cardinals in their habitat

Cardinals!
Paper Strip Cardinal.pdf

Directions - Class #1

The Northern Cardinal is a special bird that lives in Vermont. They are fun to see in the winter when it is snowy outside because of their bright red color against the white snow. Let's make our own paper cardinals and give them a habitat to live in!

First, check out this slideshow about cardinals...where they live, what they eat, and what they look like!

We will use the Paper Strip Cardinal template to color, cut, and glue together our cardinals.

Directions - Class #2

Our cardinals now need a place to live! Let's create a habitat for our cardinals. Start with a square piece of paper and fold it in half both ways (see photo).

Then cut along one of the folds to the center.

Add glue to one of the quarters of the paper, next to the cut.

Lift the side without the glue and attach it to the glue side. Make sure to line up the two squares / quarters.

Now you have a little corner to build a habitat for your cardinal!

What will you include in your cardinal's habitat?
