The former champion of England and Premier League powerhouse, Manchester City, has joined forces with North American esports organization FaZe Clan in order to host a Fortnite tournament.
The FaZe City Cup featuring Fortnite is the product of the partnership of two organizations, and it will feature some of FaZe Clan’s Fortnite roster, their content creators, and Manchester City's captain Kevin De Bruyne.
It just happened that long-time expected “Kickoff set” will be released at the same time when the tournament is hosted, so the players will have a chance to use a cosmetic bundle that features the kits of 23 famous football clubs.
Lee Trink, CEO at FaZe Clan, said:
"The FaZe City Cup featuring Fortnite is an important illustration of our groundbreaking partnership with Manchester City. Alongside Manchester City, we are thrilled to be a part of a competitive tournament in Fortnite. We look forward to building this tournament and producing more entertaining competitions in the future.”
The two organizations have been working for quite some time, and this project is just another joint venture of theirs.
Nuria Tarre, Chief Marketing Officer at City Football Group, commented:
“The FaZe City Cup featuring Fortnite is an exciting first for the club in one of the most popular gaming titles globally, and we hope fans worldwide will get involved in the competition and wear their Manchester City outfits in-game with pride. Given their significant existing presence within Fortnite, we are delighted to partner with FaZe Clan on this competition. It is further testament to our partnership with FaZe Clan, through which we will continue to explore opportunities to bring our fans new and immersive ways to engage with the blub.”
