American auto manufacturer Ford has been announced as the new presenting sponsor of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) X Winter Split and the deal’s specific activations and financial terms were not disclosed.
Psyonix stated that they wanted a sponsor passionate about its work and could contribute to Rocket League competitions and players.
Psyonix officially stated:
“Ford is a sponsor that’s built tough and committed to helping us make sure the Regional Majors have something for everyone.”
Ford is not new to esports. The renowned car manufacturer from the US has worked with esports organizations before, and it has even launched its own esports organization, Fordzilla, to compete in Forza Motorsport 7 and other racing titles. Ford created the Team Fordzilla P1, a virtual concept vehicle that would be officialy released in a racing video game in 2021. The model of that car was revealed in December 2020.
Many people expect that Ford will design vehicles for Rocket League, and adapt them in the game. The car manufacturer may even add other cosmetic items in the famous game.
The Rocket League competitions have been held for nine seasons and it has changed into longer, open events-based competitions. There will be three splits, Fall, Winter, and Spring. Psyonix will also feature a total annual prize pool of more than $4.5 million for competitions.
