A digital library created on

(old) Google sites:

Martial Arts Weapons of Hapkido and Kuhapdo.

This is an example of a simple digital library built on Google sites, hosted on Kent State University's servers. For archiving purposes I have taken images of the site using a simple snipping tool. I could save with the wayback machine with the chrome extension, but you may not be able to access the site due to Kent State login restrictions.

The image above on the left represents a basic homepage with menus for navigating to the various objects in the collection. The menu furthest left in the image is of other collections created by Kent State students, forming a collection of collections. The entire site contains numerous keywords and metadata, which can be searched using a Google search bar provided on the site.

The image on the right is of one of the object pages, complete with images and metadata. Metadata application profiles were created as part of a larger group project. Therefore there are metadata elements which are not applicable for the object. Schemas were mapped to Dublin Core: NISO Z39-87-2006 , VRA Core, MARC 21. Controlled vocabularies used: W3CDTF , LCSH , RFC4646 , DCMI Period , Art & Architecture Thesaurus

(AAT) .

For more digital library designs, different layouts, and different software options --- keep coming back! This will include Omeka, and dSpace, and perhaps Greenstone.
