Environmental Risks mapping for the Italian Circular Economy
The project ERICE aims to investigate the multi-dimensional concept of environmental risks, and to develop a geo-localized data-driven tool to map the exposure and vulnerability for Italy at the highest possible geographical resolution. Addressing the actual and potential array of environmental risks requires concerted efforts at local, national, and global levels, involving policies, regulations, innovative solutions, and individual actions aimed at promoting sustainability and resilience. The construction of a practical tool gathering information about the multiple hazards that Italian regions are exposed to will allow policy makers and researchers to measure and identify challenges and opportunities at the local level. In doing so, it will provide the necessary informative basis for guiding and monitoring the design of local actions directed to improve the resilience of the socio-economic systems to environmental risks.
ERICE will develop a conceptual framework for a multi-dimensional assessment of environmental risks and opportunities, and provide a data-driven, geo-coding tool to map the exposure and vulnerability of Italian territories across multiple domains at the most detailed geographical level possible.
three specific Objectives (Ob.):
- Ob.1: Identifying the different physical and environmental stresses and opportunities relevant in the context of transitioning to a circular economy.
- Ob.2: Providing an integrated approach to collect different sources of information useful for describing the environmental risk.
- Ob.3: Organising data and indicators useful for assessing the environmental risks occurring in Italy at most fine-grained geographical resolution available.
