The Technology and Wellness Innovations Research Lab (TWIRL), at the University of Tampa, investigates innovative methods to improve the dissemination of psychological treatments, and the relationship between technology and mental health.
Topics of interest include:
Developing and evaluating adult wellness interventions
Exploring how modern technology can be utilized to improve access to wellness interventions (e.g., websites, mobile applications, videoconferencing, social media)
Investigating the effects of social media and Internet use on mental health.
Identifying barriers to treatment, particularly in college environments and in underserved populations (e.g., stigma)
Developing strategies to reduce mental healthcare disparities and improve access to care
Examining acceptance and mindfulness based approaches to wellness (e.g., mindfulness meditation, acceptance and commitment therapy)
