EREN BALEVI

I am a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin where I work with Prof. Jeffrey Andrews in the field of machine learning (or in particular deep learning) for communications.

I am an interdisciplinary researcher. I started researching by modeling the channel between two neurons in the hippocampal region of the human brain in a communication theoretical perspective. My first paper is published related to this subject in IEEE Transactions on Communication. I've recently extended this line of research towards modeling central nervous system by treating the intercourse between brain and spinal cord as the relation between cloud and fog nodes.

With years my research evolved to intersection of communication theory and artificial neural networks. Now, I see this field as the main area of my expertise though I am still continuing to work on the intersection of communication theory and real neurons in the central nervous systems of humans by hoping to contribute to the treatment of life treating diseases.
