Hello and welcome to my webpage!
I'm a computer scientist working at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Sabanci University, Türkiye.
I'm affiliated with the Computer Vision and Pattern Analysis Laboratory - VPALab.
Besides teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, I conduct research on digital image analysis and computer vision, mostly with remote sensing images (aerial and satellite) and (bio)medical data, to a lesser degree. Jul 2025 - A study about pollen classification by S. N. Büyükbaş, V. Süzerer, M. Thota, P. Bosilj and E. Aptoula has been accepted to ICIP 2025. It was a collaboration between Sabanci Univ., Bingöl Univ. and Lincoln Univ (UK). It also includes a brand new dataset!
Jun 2025 - Congratulations to Amirreza Khoshbakht for achieving 2nd place at the student paper awards of IEEE SIU'25.

Nov 2024 - New conference paper at IEEE WHISPERS on domain generalization for scene classification, see you at Finland in December!
Nov 2024 - A new bilateral project between Türkiye and Tunisia has been accepted on explainable medical image analysis, led by Prof. B. Yanıkoğlu, where I'm tasked as a researcher on domain adaptation and generalization.
Sep 2024 - New journal article at IEEE GRSL about histogram layers for semantic segmentation with İlter Türkmenli and Prof. Koray Kayabol.
