Tábor Erasmus Meeting

About the project

Pierre de Coubertin Grammar School (GPdC) has been part of the European City Walls Erasmus+ project since 2019. Thanks to the cooperation of 5 European countries (France, Greece, Italy, Spain and the Czech republic) several students exchanges are planned to take place between 2019-2021 in chosen towns. The aim of the project is to create literary and other works of art which require knowledge of English. The inspiration and topics of those art pieces will be the architecture of the towns.

Video Greetings from Tábor

As a result of the global pademics the actual (physical) exchanges of students have been stopped and all meetings will be realized in virtual space instead. That is why we have prepared some video material for our partners abroad, which is supposed to capture and mediate the atmosphere of our town for them.

Iron Curtain

The Czechoslovak border fortifications were built in the period 1946-1964 along the south and south-western frontier. Unlike the Czechoslovakian section of the Iron Curtain, whose main function was to prevent citizens of the Eastern Bloc escaping to the West, the purpose of these border fortifications was defence against possible German aggression and later also against possible attack by NATO forces. Following the Communist takeover in the government, thousands of opponents of the communist regime tried to escape the country.

Prague is the capital and largest city in the Czech Republic. Prague is a political, cultural and economic centre of central Europe complete with a rich history. Prague was the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia and the main residence of several Holy Roman Emperors.
