My art is primarily focussed through the mediums of painting and sewing; often delving into other mediums such as written art, photography and drawing. I create work of a post-modern nature, heavily influenced by the environment and events that have caused its decline, whether that be animal warfare or pollution. Typically, pieces I create are in the style of realism, as by creating photographic paintings, I can portray an accurate, detailed, unembellished depiction of nature or of contemporary life.
I am an academic person; history, geography and art being subjects I love studying. By increasing my knowledge in these fields, I can link the subjects together, creating informative pieces of work, that share my passions with others whilst showcasing the importance of the environment and allowing people to learn and hopefully change in order to help the world. By studying various historical periods, such as Egyptology (a course I completed through Oxford University), as well as reading articles, I can transport myself to various periods in time to inspect environmental indicators; the Victorian Era seemed to be the catalyst to our environmental decline.
By creating work using topics that I am passionate about, such as the environment, I can allow viewers incite to their current actions. Plastic is so readily available now that when Covid began, it ended up being the primary product used for protection, whereas in the past this has not been the case, and out of the eight global pandemics, only two have killed more than covid.
