Lauren Blendell is a Lincolnshire-based artist working with a variety of media to create and continue conversations about current political issues in our society. Lauren’s work could be described as chaotic whilst quietly clever. Lauren has been working with animated GIFs and video. Her more resolved pieces are the politically charged animated GIF: 2020 Vision (BLOC gallery Feb 2021) and short video Interior, Crocodile, Alligator (Void Screening Jan 2022) Lauren recognises a necessity in creating work which raises awareness and elicits thought and conversations whilst also realising that some issues cannot be rectified with simply mass awareness. Lauren experiences intense panic attacks and the utter assault on the senses her work can sometimes offer, comes from a place of what the emotion of panic feels like for her. Lauren sees her work as an extension of her person- and she is not afraid to leave viewers confused and overwhelmed from her pieces.
