Surrounding the ideas of Modern Art and its contemporary responses based on present day knowledge, opinions and perspectives; I’ve learnt to demonstrate my interests within my art in ways that associate with the current world. My Inventive work surrounds the main characteristics of sculpture, installation and expression of three-dimensional forms. In addition, my chosen medium throughout my work has consisted of recycled materials such as scrap metal, pallet wood and other random bits, that in the eyes of many individuals would be seen as junk; most likely ending up as another element of landfill. For many years and for the duration of many projects I have always found a way to incorporate unwanted wood, due to it always being attainable for me. Moreover, I was brought up by a single father, in which we bonded over all things DIY, and he has been teaching me since a young age how to build or create. On top of that, he was what I would call a “organised hoarder” giving me an endless supply of odd items and things to experiment with. This led me to be fascinated with the process of transforming these bland, undeveloped pieces into objects with a function. Regarding my ongoing work, I chose to minimise my usage of wood and prioritise my other chosen mediums such as scrap materials and old electronics. As a result, I started to consider electronic waste and the idea that utilising these materials and allowing them to engage in an alternative function can help the environment. Furthermore, it reduces the risk of harmful chemicals being exposed to the soil, water and air, due to wrong disposal of items. I just want to show everyone art can be anything u want.
