The EQUALS Research Coalition, led by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and the Georgia Institute of Technology, invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners to contribute to the publication of the 2024 EQUALS Research Report. This publication will build upon the success of the inaugural report, "Taking stock: Data and evidence on gender equality in digital access, skills and leadership" released in 2018.
Building on the success of the inaugural report, the 2024 Research Report will dive deeper into the intersection of gender and technology. We seek contributions from academics and researchers who can offer insights, case studies, and scholarly perspectives on the gender digital divide, specifically within the three EQUALS action areas – Access, Skills, and Leadership.
We welcome submissions covering a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
Mainstreaming sex-disaggregated and gender-sensitive data
Measuring gender digital inequality in the Global South

Gender, entrepreneurship, and leadership in the technology industry
Global perspectives on the gender digital divide
Intersectionality, gender variance, and the gender digital divide
Work-life balance for women in the technology industry
Gender-inclusive AI technologies and gender bias in AI
Any topic related to gender equality and digital technology

About the EQUALS Global Partnership and the Research Coalition
EQUALS is a global partnership made up of corporate leaders, governmental bodies, non-profit organizations, communities, and individuals around the world working together to bridge gender digital inequalities. EQUALS was founded in 2016 by the collaborative efforts of five influential partners: the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), UN Women, the International Trade Centre (ITC), GSMA, and the United Nations University (UNU). The Partnership works to combat the increasing gender digital divide, and to close the gap by 2030. By empowering women through enhanced use of information and communication technologies, EQUALS contributes significantly to the realization of UN Sustainable Development Goal 5.
The EQUALS Research Coalition supports the work of the three other EQUALS Coalitions: Access, Skills, and Leadership. Composed of more than 40 multidisciplinary experts in information gathering and analysis, the EQUALS Research Coalition focuses on generating knowledge about the existence, causes, and potential solutions for gender digital inequalities, and also motivating key stakeholder groups—including private sector companies, government departments, regulatory agencies, and academia—to collect and share gender-relevant data.
