I have a MacBook Pro with Big Sur 11.6 and an Epson xp-970 printer. I updated my printer drivers today to the recommended package by Epson, and now some of my printing options have disappeared. I can no longer select certain types of papers nor choose which paper feed, among other lost items. I am an artist, and these are actually very important options for my work. Epson seems to be saying that it is related to my operating system, they claim that certain printer features don't work with the Big Sur operating system, and seem to offer no solution other than that lame excuse. But... these functions were working earlier with the former drivers and I had the same operating system!!! Does anyone know how to find out what my earlier drivers were and if I can go back to them?

I appreciate how frustrating this is for you. I can no longer choose the type of paper, print quality or select any form of double-sided printing on my Epson WF-7720. The EPSON printer menu has been reduced to the bare minimum- basically number of prints, B&W or colour. Tried updating the drivers and no difference. Guess I will have to follow the advice you have received and uninstall everything. Pity the amount of time and inconvenience this causes is never recognised by the developers.

My suggestion is for you to remove the printer & reset the printing system as described by MrHoffman, then uninstall the Epson drivers; empty the Trash; reboot; and then reinstall the printer from scratch. The Uninstaller is available on the Epson support page for the XP-970; under Downloads, select your version of macOS, click GO, then on the resulting drivers/utilities page look under Utilities.

Given the list of macOS versions shown in the web manual platform requirements, it is not entirely clear that Epson still supports this printer. They do seem to have drivers though, so inconsistencies do exist in the Epson docs.

My problem is: I've got an Epson XP-411 multifunctional. My computer automatically looks for the drivers and tells me that the driver Epson-201303 is available for installing. Then, it downloads it but never ends installing it! Hours and hours for the installation and finally the driver is never installed.

Im trying to install an Epson Stylus color 800 printer on a windows xp machine. I have added the printer and everything else. But the printer and PC are not communicating. I think its a driver issue and would like to know here I can get the driver. I tried Epson but nothing for winXp

I used an Epson Stylus Colour 800 with XP for several years without issue. I used the XP drivers without problem. Are you using an IEEE-1284 certified cable? It will be labeled on the cable. Older paralell cables can have issues with the 800.

Have you tried sharing the printer from the G4 box? This could be a case where the older system is running a set of printer drivers which work well with the printer, but the newer system has either those specific drivers removed, or they just don't work correctly.

I have noticed some differences in macOS Monterey for adding printers. When you select ADD in System Preferences, it doesn't show Airprint any longer. The printer name pops up and that is essentially the simpler Mac supplied driver. You have to select Other Software and then a pop up box will show the installed Epson drivers. Thanks - now after some hours of try and error all becomes more "mytirious". I can install the driver downloaded from Epson for 3880 but the printer is not present. There are only printer like 3895ans other ... But with Epson Printer Lout you can print - but not with Photoshop (tested with 23.5 and 23.4.2). So it can be also a bug in PS or by Epson . A Laserprinter works fine.
