Maggie comes from a small kingdom near London, called Solaria. They boast themselves on their magical abilities and healing talents. Maggie, unfortunately, was born without magic and as Solaria's princess, was hidden away from society for most of her life. She rebelled and spiraled out of control until, when she was fifteen, her parents sent her off to a boarding school to learn, to become a proper princess and hopefully gain some of her magic.
She never really did find any magic, but she excelled with her studies, diving into books. Despite rebelling when she was younger, she had loved reading. It was her escape, a way to forget that she was different.
Going to boarding school, where there were a mix of human and magical folk alike, she didn't feel so out of place there.
Despite not having magic herself, Maggie is crowned Queen of Solaria when her father passes due to an illness that not even the town's magic or healers can resolve. Maggie makes an effort to allow in more normal human folk, something of which her parents didn't allow. Her mother didn't approve at first, but after Maggie found her match among the humans and made them consort, her mother couldn't really deny that maybe having non magic folk around was beneficial after all. The city thrived under Maggie's rule and people from all over even more than before came there for treatments. Maggie herself diving into medical care, and ruled with much more of a gentler heart than she'd had when she'd been young.
