esther was born to benedict and louisa hawthorne of the noble hawthorne family  in england. she was the only child there and her parents always expected her to marry well and carry on their family legacy. unfortunately, hard times came upon them and that didn't occur. 

after a plague hit their city, benedict died, leaving his wife and daughter to fend for themselves. esther also grew very ill, so much so that she was near death herself. desperate times called for desperate measures and louisa searched high and low for the nearest medi witch that would be willing to help them. she had already lost her husband, she wasn't about to lose her daughter too. 

and so, esther was saved. but at what cost? her skin was pale now, the touch of her ice cold. feeding on what she thought was fellow humans was her only way to survive. after almost attacking her mother, the witch that had turned her helped her find a local clan of vampires. she was not the only one after all and esther learned to control herself, from then on out feeding on animals instead of humans. 

esther was soon to learn that because of the magic used to save her, she also was given some of the gifts as well. an abomination, the witch had called her when she'd sought her out again for help. esther could perform magical tasks, but none of herself and her magic was only at it's highest when she wasn't weak from blood hunger. 

it was only when she started realizing that she was no long aging, did esther say goodbye to her mother and she left london. she did not stray far, going to paris for as long as she was able to instead. esther came to love the city and adapted well there. she had found more vampires to live with there, who were more careful about their identities and made it so that people could stay there for longer periods of time. 

now in modern day, esther travels all over, never staying in one place for too long. the places she can be found the most are paris and london. she has kept the name hawthorne over the years, but the family name had 'died' out with her. no one knew that she was of noble birth, but it didn't matter so much now. back when her mother had passed, esther made sure their funds went to the house maids and those that kept up their lands, giving it to them instead. she was always welcome back of course, those that knew the truth would welcome back lady hawthrone with open arms.

even though she does survive on animal blood, esther craves the other from time to time and carefully collects blood bags from hospitals when she can. she doesn't feel so bad about that, but she doesn't take too much because she knows the humans need it more than her.

she does venture into america fairly often, staying at cute bed and breakfast's or air bnb's. esther does what she can to help local vampires who are struggling when she comes across them, but she won't get involved in dangerous deeds. she's fierce and protective of those that she cares about, but esther does have her weaknesses too. she can't use magic on herself and she can't go long without blood because of not just her vampirism, but because of the magic too. as for sunlight, she is able to stay in it, not because of any jewelry or like some stories, sparkles, but because the magic she was given does protect her there, why it is so important she keeps herself replenished.
