Screams, roars, prayers and curses mixed into a heady swan’s song.
Time had passed enough that the six no longer needed nor could hide themselves amid the trees. Each stood larger than any other beast save their enemy. Rizark. Enraged by the loss of his army, the Titan stomped at the ground.
Yellow was ready and darted under one foot before arching its back. Rather than taking the blow, the ground grew sharp points that rose up and tore through flesh, piercing it in place.
Gray smiled as Rizark opened its great maw to roar. Instead, a great silence was ripped from his throat. The loudest sound was the whistling of air as Rizark began to clutch at its throat, desperate for air.
Black, Blue and Red each took a limb and pierced it, biting in new places to speed their toxin’s flow. Even still, Rizark thrashed and actively resisted it. Blood boiling so hot steam poured from every wound.
White, now the largest, crashed into Rizark in a single, full bodied lunge. The great Titan toppled down. Gray, the swiftest dove from its hiding spot to bring its sharp talons into Rizark’s eye. The other eye became Black’s prey.
Easily, the six dodged the Titan’s flailing limbs. White began the laborious digging into the living mountain of flesh. Cleaving the cavernous chest open with its forelimbs wide enough for Red to stick their head inside.
A bellowing roar was followed by a searing plume of fire. Organs shriveled and melted under the relentless heat and Red withdrew. Then, as steam began to pour out from every wound as Rizark began to mend itself.
Blue dove into the gaping wound, the heated organs crystallizing. Their attempts to regenerate are frozen. Everyone regrouped inside the great Titan. Yellow and White begin to smash the ice, mining through the body till they reach a place that makes even Red shake from the intense heat.
“Blue called it,” Black sighed, “That’s his real form in there.”
All six beheld a great, pulsing organ with a shape inside. Six great wings extended from a creature with large forelimbs and small, thick legs. The flesh receded as the creature revealed its stony hide had streaks of blistering red lines across it.
With a laugh the creature introduced itself, “Ah, I am Rizark. The true arbiter of destruction.”
“No,” White sneered, “What you are is our meal. Fight and suffer and die. That is the only path before you.”
Lances of white hot flames erupted from Rizark’s pulsing forearms. Again and again he poured out the spears of fire that burned away his own former flesh. Red and Black took the lead and did their best to shield the others from the relentless attack.
White, undaunted, charged forward. Despite his strength, when he lunged at Rizark, he was instead launched backwards. Gray managed to deflect the lances aimed at his airborne body as White recovered to land on its four limbs.
“Hurry up yellow!” Red snarled as new gouges into his scales stopped healing.
Throwing his head back Yellow, the only wingless of the six let loose a bellow. Suddenly the body stirred. The fleshy walls erupted and a flood of lifeblood soaked everyone. Then, a hand the size of a hill took hold of Rizark and flung him out of it.
All six hurried out of the huge gash in the Titan Rizark’s former form. Its true form hung in mid air with its arms folded. Its great arms shuddered before letting out a bellowing laugh, “I have to applaud you, little lizardlings! You’re entertaining. I’m glad I didn’t crush you outright long ago! But, you’ve hurt my body and for that it’s only fair I take equal recompense.”
In a blur of motion, Rizark hurtled to the ground and landed amongst the six in a cloud of dust. Taking hold of Black and White by the back of their necks he struck them against each other. From their contact hovered a swirling, multicolored orb. The gem swirled like a storm till Rizark took it into his clawed hands.
All six whined as pain wracked their bodies and more. The orb began to crack with a sound that was a roar of a volcano.
With a sneer Rizark twisted its wrists and snapped the orb. Energy poured out in every direction, blinding bright for a moment before leaving only sandy granules left in his palms.
Black was the first to recover and lunged at Rizark. Grabbing hold of his white hot lance, he aimed a thrust at Black’s eyes. Black simply closed their eyes and the thrust deflected off their scales.
At that moment white leaped up and pinned Rizark to the ground. White’s body swelled even larger and the Titan couldn’t dislodge it. Lances began to erupt from his body when Blue opened their maw wide. A sudden torrent of water erupted from them to douse the flames. Red’s mouth opened and drew the flaming lances within. Devouring them.
Yellow’s talons ripped away Rizark’s rocky flesh before he darted back. Even White leapt back. Gray descended, delivering shrapnel ripped from the ground to crash into Rizark before landing with enough force to create a crater.
Rizark’s body shredded and shattered from the force. Chunks of him landing all around the crater. The six took their bounty, each devouring what they could before meeting in the middle. Each of them looked to the other before Blue asked, “What are you thinking about?”
“I-I don’t know,” White admitted scanning the others and asking, “What now?”
