The Environmental Nanoporous Materials Laboratory (ENML) is dedicated to the design, synthesis, and advanced characterization of functional nanoporous materials, with a particular emphasis on crystalline frameworks such as zeolites.
Our mission is to advance environmental sustainability by developing high-performance nanoporous materials for selective gas adsorption and separation, especially for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture under ultra-low concentration conditions (e.g., direct air capture).
We focus on understanding the fundamental mechanisms governing gas–solid interactions within nanoporous structures, including cation–guest interactions and adsorption thermodynamics. These insights enable the rational design of next-generation materials with enhanced selectivity, capacity, and stability.
Through integrated approaches combining precise structural analysis and advanced adsorption measurements, ENML aims to contribute to the development of scalable and efficient carbon capture technologies for addressing global climate challenges.
We are actively recruiting motivated undergraduate researchers as well as M.S. and Ph.D. students who are interested in nanoporous materials, adsorption science, and environmental applications.
If you are interested in joining ENML, please contact Prof. Hyun June Choi at chj88@dau.ac.kr, Department of Environmental Engineering, Dong-A University.
